ba (hONS) BUSINESS STUDIES – 2 years
(UNIVERSITY OF WALES)
Why take this course?
1. A two year programme is both cost and time effective.
By taking a two year degree programme rather than the normal 3 year degree
courses students obtain 2 main benefits:
· Firstly Financial. Students both save money by reducing their living costs by a year and also gain an extra year of work and so salary. The total value of these benefits will differ but must be at least a minimum of £20000 and probably much more!
· Secondly Career. The intensive 2 year degree programme gives an experience far more similar to the work environment with tight deadlines and results orientation. The extra year of work experience helps accelerate promotion and career prospects.
2. It provides an excellent broad-based grounding in all aspects of
business.
The modules on the University of Wales degree are specially designed for tomorrow’s Business professionals with a focus on:
· Firstly Knowledge. Students within the degree will learn about all the main management functions including Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, IT and Production.
· Secondly Skills. As importantly students will acquire the practical skills needed in the work place today including leadership, group working, project management and presentations.
3. Case studies and real company examples provided on the Course will encourage students to hone their knowledge and apply the theory to practice so ensuring what is learnt is always relevant.
4. Wide choice of Financially rewarding career opportunities.
- The broad coverage of the Business Degree will prepare students to either work in General management and so eventually hopefully reach the top highly paid position in a firm of Managing director
- Specialise in one area of management after graduation in which role the general knowledge of other aspects of Management will be extremely useful.
- In either circumstances the graduate will be in a challenging and financially rewarding position.
5. To run one’s own business.
· To run their own business successfully the owner will need to know about all aspects of Management.
· Firstly at the start of the Business he/she will have to perform a variety of different management roles as specialist managers could not be afforded.
· As the Business grows it is essential the owner also understands all that goes on in order to have proper controls in place for every part of the business.
6. It provides a strong foundation for further study.
· A University of Wales BA degree will give students the opportunity to progress to an MBA Course at KCB or another UK university.
· Alternatively students can decide to obtain a specialist professional qualification such as CIM or ICSA for which they will obtain significant exemptions.
